The Cat and the Chiropractor

Millions of chiropractic patients share the sequence of medical failure followed by chiropractic successfully managing their symptoms, and go on their way.

Millions miss that chiropractic is specifically the art, science, and philosophy of finding and correcting subluxations for the purpose of removing nerve interference, enhancing the flow of innate intelligence in order to allow the body to adapt to its environment and function at its optimum.

Like many chiropractors from time to time I have been remiss in mentioning chiropractic’s major premise; that a Universal Intelligence is in all matter and continually gives to it all its properties and actions, thus maintaining it in existence. Optimal function requires the full expression of our innate intelligence.

For example I was adjusting a hissing cat in a restaurant. My purpose was to remove nerve interference, to enhance the flow of innate intelligence in order to allow the cat’s body to adapt to its environment and function at its optimum.

On a prior occasion, the restaurant owner had told me that the cat’s previous dash had given way to apathy, its calm had given way to intolerance to being patted and it had stopped coming through the open window in the morning to sit on the bed. The owner reported that after its first adjustment the cat was better.

Regardless of who it is or what the symptoms are, be it a cat, or a colicky baby; my role is to adjust the subluxation and then to leave it to the power that made this body to heal this body. After that, the purpose of ongoing regular chiropractic care is to continue to help the body to adapt to its environment and function at its optimum.

The 1979 Report Chiropractic in New Zealand put it very well. “The chiropractor does not set out to cure or relieve a particular ailment. What he sets out to do is, to ensure that the spinal column is functioning normally. If a particular ailment clears up, or is relieved following the therapy, so much the better.”

Most chiropractors grasp the advantage of removing nerve interference, enhancing the flow of innate intelligence in order to allow the body to adapt to its environment and function at its optimum. Hence we provide long term ongoing care for our families, our staff and for our colleagues. I usually get adjusted weekly.

Should I have left that cat to go though life retaining subluxations that impedes its body’s ability to adapt to its environment and function at its optimum?

Using chiropractic as a drug free analgesic for headaches or neck and back pain is altogether different than the rational underpinning lifetime chiropractic care.

Please be aware that many people you know may not know what a subluxation is, what disorders may arise from subluxations and what to do about them.

Thousands of patients teach thousands of others, one person at a time. Please play your part in your sphere of influence. If we can help; let us know.
